Sea Samples is a small, privately owned family business specializing in the collection of marine invertebrates for bio-medical research. We are based in the Lower Florida Keys where we maintain several vessels for collecting inshore areas including the mangrove/seagrass areas and out to the coral reef.
Sea Samples has all the necessary permits for collecting in the Florida Keys, the State of Florida, and Southeast U.S. waters.
The owners of Sea Samples, Don and Karen DeMaria, have spent the past 22 years collecting marine invertebrates for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as sub contractors working with the Coral Reef Research Foundation (CRRF). During our 22 year work relationship with NCI and CRRF we had the opportunity to collect in many different parts of the world from Alaska to South Africa including Darwin, Australia, Solomon Islands, Chuuk, Palau, Pohnpei, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bahrain, California, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Curacao, Navassa, and the Southeast United States.
After so many years of collecting marine invertebrates for natural products researchers, we not only have a good idea of what is of interest, and what is not, but also where to find those species.
